What did we do?

IHG is the world’s largest hotel group and Crowne Plaza currently has 388 hotels open in 60 countries and 123 new hotels are in the pipeline.

Crowne Plaza is the InterContinental Hotel Groups upscale brand and the world’s fourth largest hotel chain. However, until June 2011 and despite its quite considerable size the brand was without an official Facebook presence.

In just 4 working days our lovely social media team created and launched the Crowne Plaza global Facebook presence. The site houses 43 elements including a custom-application microsite listing all 388 hotels that works within a single page on Facebook. We designed the page and created the graphics, we sourced and uploaded all of the current Crowne Plaza information, we devised two charity donation campaigns, worldwide special offers, video and photo albums.  We provided a forum for guest interaction worldwide.

The starting point of this campaign was zero.

What did we achieve?

We designed, populated and activated the page in 4 days. We gathered, filtered and organised information and images from each of the 388 hotels.

Pixel8 liaised with the brand management and social media teams at IHG headquarters. Our staff worked around the clock to accommodate Eastern Standard Time, allowing for communication with Crowne Plaza hotels staff around the world.

We provided links to each Crowne Plaza hotel and images of the locations worldwide.

We communicated with the PGA Tour Headquarters and BMW Motorsport (as Crowne Plaza are the official sponsors) to filter information and selected appropriate and interesting content to feature on the page.

We increased brand and campaign awareness via online press releases and by posting authorised content on the PGA Tour Facebook page, tournament Facebook sites including Crowne Plaza Invitational at the Colonial and the US Open.
