Personalise.com mobile app
What did we do?
We’ve been working happily and productively with personalise.com since its inception, recently we’ve designed and built a sparkling new website for them. Of course, it’s hugely important that every website we design and develop works beautifully across every bowser including mobile.
We had to make sure that the mobile app looked consistent with the brand and the desktop site and that it had the best user experience on the market, retaining all the features of the desktop site that make it such an attractive prospect. This meant ensuring that customers have the same ability to customise cards and calendars at their leisure and that payment can be taken for the service via the app.
We used fonts and colour palette from the new personlise.com desktop website and got on with the wizadry that is involved in developing an app. The new front end of the app was supported and leveraged by the existing back end from the desktop website, offering a seamless experience for existing users.
What did we achieve?
We used the backbone.js framework to achieve a single page mobile application that is ‘lightweight’. In layman’s terms this mean that it is responsive, fast and works beautifully even when a person’s mobile reception is poor. We used the require.js library so that only the required data is loaded, there is nothing that is excess to requirements that keeps the process quick, slick and working like a dream.
Not only does the mobile app do everything that the desktop website does, we also managed to get a great big cherry on top of the proverbial cake; the ability to upload photographs that are taken on a mobile phone. The ability to make the most of the camera facility broadens the appeal of the personalise.com offering as a whole. It is incredibly easy to select a photograph, rotate it and/or resize it and upload it for incorporation into a card or calendar of choice. Our friends at personalise love it and our relationship continues at full throttle.
We achieved the ability to design a personalised card yourself, on the move on a full range of mobile phones.
