MSLT logo & brand creation

What did we do?

We were initially approached by Manchester Sport and Leisure Trust (MSLT) to create a fresh, dynamic corporate identity. This was to include the delivery of a new website incorporating a completely revamped style and a bespoke on-going e-marketing campaign.

We produced ideas for a new strapline to clarify that the 19 sites are always to appeal to everyone from the young to the old and to those with little or no athletic experience to those who are Olympic and world champions. MSLT has the facilities to cater for everyone and we had to illustrate all of this in five little words or less. ‘From grassroots to greatness’ sums up the spectrum of available facilities and the breadth of customer appeal. MSLT were chuffed to bits with their new strapline.

Next we designed a superb new logo inspired by the buildings themselves incorporating the curve of a stadium, we used sweeping olympian colours and a contemporary typeface to appeal to all of the residents of Manchester (and beyond).

What did we achieve?

Our first step in working alongside MSLT was to confirm their aspirations and requirements, to define where they wanted their brand to sit and to whom it was to appeal. We took the time and made the effort to really get to the heart of what they needed and wanted. We achieved a relevant, modern brand that continues to succeed across each individual element of the brand, tying them together consistently. The logo, strapline, colour palette and typeface all work hard for MSLT across all forms of collateral, clothing and signage.

We considered how each component worked in alignment with all the others to complement the brand and its strapline and implemented appropriate design accordingly.

For example, the logo is provided in both a deluxe tonal gradient version for stationary and more corporate items (e.g presentation folders) and we also created a flat version for general use and signage. We achieved consistent representation of the MSLT brand all over our beloved city.
