It’s most people’s instinct to head straight to the website when you want to check out a hotel. Whether that be for booking a room for the night or a meeting space to host a business event. Following the overall brand refresh for Crowne Plaza, we were commissioned to design the homepage of the website, which would be passed on to their internal IT team to build, and would ultimately set the tone for the rest of the site.

Following the re-brand of Crowne Plaza (that took place over a six-month period) and the photoshoots around the world that it involved, we decided upon the best way to eliminate any future ‘off brand’ issues. Previously, Crowne Plaza had experienced problems relating to the creation of off brand collateral every day and we had to ensure that going forward, this didn’t happen again with the new artwork. So, we developed a system that prevents this from recurring; the Brand Implementation Toolkit (Brandit™) was created.

In comparison to hotel groups of a similar distinction and calibre Crowne Plaza was being outclassed in terms of social media. It was our job to rectify this and to provide an official forum for interaction and communication with customers.

IHG is the world’s largest hotel group and Crowne Plaza currently has 388 hotels open in 60 countries and 123 new hotels are in the pipeline. Crowne Plaza is the InterContinental Hotel Groups upscale brand and the world’s fourth largest hotel chain. However, until June 2011 and despite its quite considerable size the brand was without an official Facebook presence.
