What did we do?
UNIGIS UK, part of Manchester Metropolitan University, offers cutting-edge, post-graduate, distance learning courses in GIS (Geographic Information Systems).
Our relationship with them began at the end of 2011, when they came to us looking for some help with their website. They needed to focus heavily upon the engagement of prospective students, and updating the site’s overall look and feel. Previously and most understandably, their main focus had been primarily on the academic content and as a result the design was in need of a refresh.
We stepped in and gave the entire site a little bit of the Pixel8 digital magic, adding eye-catching banner images, creating a fresh, modern colour scheme and adding a news and events section to improve the social aspect of the site as inevitably students are massively attracted to any social networking opportunities.
Alongside our work on the website, we also gave the UNIGIS logo a bit of a revamp and a fresh new look, updating the font selection, colours and most importantly we added a very simple graphic element to tie together the two ‘words’ that made up the logo – ‘UNI’ and ‘GIS’.
What did we achieve?
The resulting logo has a much more modern, up-to-date look which will appeal to the target market, and the colours have a fresh, contemporary feel.
The website is now a fantastic, easy-to-use resource for existing and prospective students. Information is clearly and cleanly set out, the navigation has been vastly improved by introducing and defining the 3 key course area at the top of the website. Which is pretty important really, as we’re dealing with Geographic Information Systems!
The hero banner images provide a great focal point on the website, and the new green colour has been introduced subtly throughout.
The news and events section certainly adds a new dynamism to the website, creating plenty of interest for new visitors to the site.
A first class job all round!
