How To Create A Marketing Plan For Your Business

1. Know Who You’re Targeting
You could have the very best and most convincing marketing campaign that has ever graced this Earth, but if you’re not targeting the right audience then you might as well have nothing.
The important thing for any business before any marketing campaign is to get straight in the minds of who their target audience is. Whether it’s young or older people, men or women, it will have a large impact on the type of marketing that would work for you product/business.
2. Do Your Research
Once you know who you’re targeting, it’s time to figure out what they like/dislike. In other words, you need to get to know your consumer.
A great way to do this is to create a target customer profile. Get your marketing team together and generate the type of person you want to appeal to and what their interests could be. If you have a good sense of what type of customer would be interested in your product then you’ll have a better chance of getting their attention.
3. Do Something Different
Practically all markets across all sectors are saturated - and to really make a big stand and do something that will get noticed, you need to be different!
Whether it’s investing in virtual reality advertising, sensory advertising or maybe just a live video on Facebook - there are plenty of ways you can get people to pay attention.
4. Have A Plan And KPIs
You need to have a plan in place, as well as KPIs. These Key Performance Indicators will help you understand whether you’re on the right path to achieving what it is that you need to do.
For example, a KPI you could be hoping to achieve is a certain number of people visiting your website or perhaps the amount of retweets you get on Twitter.
It will depend on exactly what you’re hoping to achieve in the long run. Whether that’s raising brand awareness or driving more traffic to your website - that bit’s up to you!
5. Track Your Campaign - Make Changes If Required
When it comes to marketing, digital especially, you can kind of tell straight away whether your campaign is going well. This is because there are so many indicators with information.
If you’re pushing your brand out on social media, you’ll be able to see how many likes and click-throughs you get, for example. And if there aren't any then you know you’re doing something wrong and need to reassess.
6. Present Your Results And Perfect Your Methods
Chances are, you’ll have some successes in your campaign if you’re doing it right. When it comes to the end of it all, it’s time to get excited and present your great work to whomever’s in charge.
After that, it’s time to assess the areas that could have done better. You know then that the next time you create and launch a marketing campaign the areas you need to build upon to achieve more success than ever before!
