5 Reasons to Refresh Your Company Branding

Sometimes it’s easier not to refresh a brand. But what’s easy isn’t necessarily right.

A tired brand shows over time and not only will it be obvious to you, it will also be clear to your customers too. And if you aren’t maintaining your brand it’ll tell your customers you’re not too bothered about your product. Which we know isn’t true!

So to really show your customers what your company can do, why not consider a brand refresh?

If you need a little more convincing, we've listed below the top five reasons to consider shaking up your brand with an exciting refresh!

1. Your audience aren’t taking notice

You’ll know if your audience aren’t paying attention to your brand in a number of ways, and one of these is a decline of sales.

This is something you most definitely don't want as a business. So if sales are declining, and your customers are looking elsewhere to locate your products and services, it’s time to do something about it.

A refresh for your brand can be as subtle as switching up your logo, to launching new colour schemes and modern marketing materials. It’s really up to you to take it as far as you feel appropriate.

The power’s in your hands when it comes to refreshing your brand, and it will certainly put you back in the minds of those target customers you may have lost recently.

2. You’re getting lost among the competition

“64% of people cite shared values as the main reason they have a relationship with a brand.”

If you have a great product or service on your hands, chances are you’ll also have a large amount of competition.

It's natural and it's also healthy. Having competition gives you something to fight for and always makes sure you're improving your business.

But how do you defeat them and take the crown?

For your brand to stand out you need to make sure there’s something worth taking notice of - and an effective refresh can help you do this.

So if you find yourself getting a little lost then it may be time to consider what you can do to your brand to make it new and different.

3. Your business has evolved

Sometimes when you start a business, you have one product or service in mind. Yet as you grow, this can change and evolve meaning you'll find yourself with new avenues that aren't celebrated in your brand.

When this happens, it's easy for your brand to fall out of love with your business. What you need to do is ensure that it's obvious what your business does. Otherwise, you could be missing out on easy, yet never the less vital, business opportunities.

The best way to draw attention to new product/services is to celebrate them, of course!

So why not do so with a fantastic rebrand? It’s the perfect way to generate buzz around your company with PR opportunities too.

4. You want to attract a new audience

Sometimes a brand can hope to expand their target audience, and there’s always the chance that the branding you currently have in place might not be able to achieve that.

Whether your brand appeals to the older generation but you want to get the younger millennials involved, or perhaps you’re known as a men's clothing business but want to attract women to your new female line as well, a refresh can show your target audience that your business is shifting and changing.

This makes it a great way to get right in front of the eyes of those new customers you're hoping to attract, so never underestimate the importance of your brand and the influence it can have on sales.

5. Your brand is inconsistent

Inconsistent branding is something businesses find themselves firefighting every day. This is largely because as a business grows,  it becomes more and more difficult to manage.

A brand refresh can change this, and it’s especially effective if you decide to produce brand guidelines too. These are helpful documents that tell your employees exactly what your brand is all about from your brand message through to colour schemes, tone of voice and much more.

A refresh is also a chance to roll out a new look and then make sure it’s kept consistent globally with the likes of web to print and brand asset management software.

The world’s your oyster with a brand refresh - and it will certainly make your business look the part.
