10 Reasons Why Pixel8 Won Best Full Service Agency At The Talk of Manchester Awards

We're pleased to announce that we're now the proud owners of the Best Full Service Agency award from the Talk of Manchester Awards 2016!

We had an amazing night and we were incredibly excited to be honoured, but we wouldn't have been able to do any of it without your votes.

Thank you to each and every person who took the time to vote for us - we appreciate it more than you could ever know!


If you're curious as to what we've been up to this year, and how we managed to earn our nomination and award, here's our round-up of our finest brand and digital projects that 2016 has seen so far.

1. Eastlands -

We’ve been making a song and dance about our recent marketing campaign for Manchester institution, Eastlands Trust, and for a good reason, too. The campaign launched to coincide this year’s Rio Olympics, and the main aim was to make Eastlands a go-to place for Olympic news, as well as encouraging footfall into the national sports centres including The National Cycling Centre - and we had just two weeks to deliver some exciting results.

After conceptualising the campaign with the hashtag we began to plan an in-depth marketing strategy that included paid media, social community management, PR, and experiential marketing.

In two weeks, we achieved the following:

  • Reached 7.3 million sports enthusiasts with social messaging
  • 1,016 new Twitter followers
  • 180,263 click-throughs to the websites
  • 15,535 conversations on social media
  • 1.4 million impressions
  • 1,705 new Facebook fans
  • 14,906 messages and queries about the centres came through.
It was a fantastic campaign, and we've even been nominated for a Chartered Institute of Marketing Northern Award off of the back of it!

2. Hollywood Bowl Menu Redesign

We have an excellent working relationship with The Original Bowling Company, so much so that they approached us to assist with the redesign of their brand new diner and drinks menus

We designed brand collateral that was on brand and also fitted with their ‘Hollywood Glamour’ concept that they have rolled out UK-wide.

We also had to create a new suite of photography that promoted the food in its most delicious, premium light.

3. Hilton Fans of London

We love working with Hilton Hotels, and we were incredibly excited when we won the pitch to oversee their Hilton Fans of London social media campaign, we were proud as punch!

We had just a fortnight from brief to launch and created collateral and posts that were centred around key summer events in Londo that linked to the wider brand campaign: Royals, Theatre, Music, and Harry Potter.

We achieved the following results:

  • Social messaging reached 3,300,097 targeted users across the four key pillars
  • 7,713,301 impressions on social media
  • 239,819 conversations
  • 54,213 click-throughs to their booking page - which saw a considerable increase in bookings across all London hotels.

4. The Original Bowling Company - Rebrand

The Original Bowling Company oversee a range of bowling companies in the  UK including AMF Bowl, Bowl Plex and Hollywood Bowl.

They have recently been refurbishing and rebranding the Hollywood Bowl centres, and there was a need to create an identity for the AMF centres which were not due to be rebranded to bring them in line with the Hollywood Bowl branding.

We helped the centres to create a premium and refreshed feel that brought them in line with the other centres, take a look below at what we achieved. Here are the before and after images!


5. Cheadle Hulme School Comedy Brochure

It’s a pleasure to work with local schools in the Manchester area, which is why we take great pride in the work with do with Cheadle Hulme School.

They approached us with the need for a Comedy Brochure for their charity fundraising night. We jumped at the chance to do it, and in the spirit of charity, we also did it free of charge.

Take a look at what we achieved below. The school were so pleased they even sent us a wonderful letter, thanking us for our contribution to the evening.


6. Hollywood Bowl Campaigns & Promotions

As well as supporting The Original Bowling company with AMF rebranding and also menu redesigns, we’ve also been enlisted to design the Hollywood Bowl campaigns and promotions.

Whether it’s Easter, Halloween or Christmas, we’ve been on hand, working within their brand guidelines to produce some fantastic collateral.

7. Cheadle Hulme High School Print Advertising

We have a great relationship with Cheadle Hulme High School (we even redesigned their website last year!), and because they have faith in our quick turnaround times and quality work, they approached us once more with a need to reinvent their print advertising efforts.

Ensuring our adverts were inspirational and also on brand, our graphic designers set to work creating the adverts below.

Now these print advertisements can be found magazines such as Cheshire Life, showcasing the very best of the school.


8. Silver Bay Holiday Village - The Deck House rebrand

We've been working alongside Silver Bay Holiday Village for two years now, (you may have seen them in last year’s TOMs blog) but this case study is a little different.

The leading UK luxury holiday village called for some brand positioning expertise for their new food and beverage offering. They also requested our branding know-how for a full rebrand.

Originally known as The Hay House Bistro, we conceptualised The Deck House, reference to the bespoke decked outdoors area as well as the awe-inspiring views over Silver Bay beach and Snowdonia.

9. Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Brochure

We love working with local businesses as well as national brands in the public sector, and we were thrilled when Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue approached us with this project.

They required our branding expertise to produce a brochure that outlined their Integrated Risk Management Plan between 2016 and 2020, so we set to work to create something on brand, to the specification, and also something with a corporate spin.

10. Hollywood Bowl Mascot Refresh

If you’ve been to Hollywood Bowl before, you may have come across their mascot, Bumper.

When the brand approached us, they wanted us to give good ol’ Bumper a lovely refresh. The main aim was to bring Bumper up to date and provide him with a modern edge that was on brand with the new collateral.

The design team worked incredibly hard to keep what was originally so special about Bumper yet bring him up to date!
